Implant

A dental implant acts like the root of a tooth and is used to support a single crown, bridge or if several implants are placed, a set of upper or lower dentures. Dental implants appear completely natural and indistinguishable from adjacent teeth. Dental implants are as strong as a natural tooth root and is a stand-alone structure, meaning it does not rely on other teeth for support like a bridge. The aim is to improve your health, chewing function and/or aesthetic appearance and once healing and restoration is completed, you will be able to enjoy a wide variety of foods again.

Receiving a dental implant can take several stages. The first phase involves a consultation and thorough examination of your oral and general health. The second phase is the surgical procedure where your implant is guided into place. It is then left to naturally integrate with your jaw bone. This can take between 3 – 6 months. When your implant has integrated to your jaw bone, a connector post (called an abutment) and replacement teeth are then attached to your implant, completing the process and restoring your smile.

For people who find dentures uncomfortable and inconvenient, dental implants can eliminate the maintenance required with removable dentures. They are also much more secure adding to peace of mind when speaking and eating.

The following are a typical process of the implant treatment with bone graft.
